Hardware Review | Part I – Pro Flight Trainer PUMA

Your personal reporter Angelique van Campen received from Aerosoft some awesome helicopter hardware equipment; the Pro Flight Trainer PUMA. Together with the help of the Pro Flight Trainer team she was able to master helicopters in a professional way. This helicopter hardware is really topnotch quality, made of durable materials and much easier to fly helicopters than with regular hardware like joysticks and so on.

According to Angelique “Yes, one word is enough … awesome equipment for those who love to fly or to master helicopters. It’s clearly different hardware and can be used with several flight simulators – thus not only for X-Plane – and when I say “clearly different hardware” then I mean the overall quality, the used materials, the way it is designed and not to forget, the support in case you need assistance from the Pro Flight Trainer team.”

She continues “Although I only tested it with X-Plane 11 with macOS and Windows, I’m impressed how it looks like, but also how it is manufactured, and not to forget how it is painted. The cables that connect all the individual sensors to the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) are of high quality with a nice and protective shielding around it. Besides all of that, you’ve got lots of possibilities to adjust the Pro Flight Trainer PUMA to your needs, your overall body length, your leg length and so on.”

It was worth her time, effort and be able to fly helicopters. This resulted in a comprehensive review with lots of ins and outs of the Pro Flight Trainer PUMA. I hope you like the review. Feel free to comment.

Hardware Review | Honeycomb Flight Controls

At X-Plained.Com we’re reviewing all kind of products, ranging from software aircraft, airports, scenery, utility add-ons and what else more. Some are chosen by us, some are written on request.

I’m sure you know what we all do regarding reviews. But, not often, there’s also a need to review some new hardware and this time we had the possibility to review the Honeycomb Aeronautical Alpha Flight Control unit. Since Saitek was taken over by Logi, we missed the Saitek Pro Flight equipment and belonging products and this gap is slowly taken over by Honeycomb Aeronautical.

The reviewed product, the Honeycomb Alpha Flight Controls is a GA aircraft look alike device with switches, buttons and an engine selector. I was a bit curious what to expect and therefore, I contacted Aerosoft. It was worth my time to review this piece of hardware from US manufacture Honeycomb Aeronautical. It was fun reviewing it due to the used material and thus the overall quality and what else I found out during the testing. Curious what our personal reporter Angelique van Campen has to say about this piece of hardware?

Check it out via this in-depth review link. Enjoy the reading and comments or suggestions are always welcome.

Hardware Review | The Ultimate X-56 Rhino HOTAS

Can things get better or is this the ultimate H.O.T.A.S (Hands On Throttle-And-Stick) from Saitek (Logitech)? Now, this is the ultimate combination, but you never know what will happen in the future.

Your personal reporter Angelique van Campen had the opportunity to test the Saitek X-56 Rhino HOTAS unit. And was it worth the writing and testing or ….? According to Angelique “I’m impressed about the integration of the X-56 Rhino hardware with Laminar Research X-Plane for Windows 10 Professional and macOS Sierra. And yes, the X-56 works quite well with X-Plane on a Mac although there’s no Saitek software available for this OS.”

But there’s more “Now we have the X-56 Rhino H.O.T.A.S. and the developer behind this new product, has done it again. Yes, they did it again since the X-56 can provide difference force feedback depending on the spring you install. Yes, you read it right! You can change the force to move the stick by changing the internal springs or you can even decide not to install any spring.”

Curious to the rest? Then Angelique warns you in advance … relax, take a coffee, tea or something else and enjoy her comprehensive X-56 Rhino HOTAS review.

Hardware Review | Saitek X52 Pro

The Saitek X52 Pro or should we say Logitech X52 Pro …. no, let’s keep it for the moment with Saitek.

Saitek was never good in supporting X-Plane, but that’s changed already a while ago although Mac is officially not supported with drivers and/or software. Neither less, the Saitek X52 Pro works great with X-Plane Windows and Mac. Sorry, Angelique haven’t tested it with Linux!

That said, Angelique found it useful to review this piece of flight simulator joystick/throttle unit once more. It’s inexpensive, and does the work great compared to the much more costly X-65 Rhino.
