Airport Review | Nimbus Studios KATL

We’re pleased to inform you, also on behalf of our reviewer Bruce Knight, that Bruce visited the international airport of Atlanta from Nimbus Studios. According to Bruce “I was impressed by what Nimbus have done with KATL v2. I love the animated people, the plugin functions, as well as the detail in the scenery. The Delta museum and maintenance facility are excellent, and getting inside the concourse with a virtual view looks much like the real thing. The airport has a sense of life to it.”

Bruce continues “I believe that this product will add depth to any XP11 installation, especially if you like flying into and out of the busiest airport in the world! In comparing this scenery product to the XP11.40 default KATL, it’s obvious that a lot is added to this airport by the Nimbus product. And at a framerate that exceeded my expectations.”

Airport Review | KLAX Funner Flight

We’re at X-Plained.Com are pleased to inform you, on behalf of Bruce Knight our dedicated reviewer, that Bruce took the time and effort and even virtually flew to KLAX to figure out all the ins and outs of the Funner Flight KLAX version 2.5 airport. You might think … this was already updated a while ago, but actually, it has been updated recently in August 2019.

Bruce thinks that “This airport scenery is well done, and reminds me of how much difference third-party airport scenery makes to the immersion of the flight sim experience. Even though the taxying aircraft do not follow traditional ground routes to and from the terminal gates and the runways, they certainly provide immersion.”

Bruce continues “The addition of buildings surrounding the airport (such as hotels), plus the auto traffic in those areas, is another piece of the immersion. The use of options to render the scenery as desired by personal choice is something I have rarely seen before, at least to this scale.”

But there’s much more to explore. Check out our dedicated in-depth review Funner Flight KLAX link written by Bruce.

Scenery Review | Norwegian Adventures 2

It’s still August 2019, but a couple of weeks later. Your personal reporter Angelique van Campen started besides many other X-Plained related projects, with her second Norwegian adventures. On behalf of Angelique, Orbx and Tony, we’re pleased to offer you in a series of Norwegian review articles, part II of her Norwegian exploration.

This adventure deals with the X-Plane airport products from Orbx Hamar Stafsberg (ENHA), Orsta-Volda (ENOV), the Orbx Libraries, MeshXP Norway package from Taburet and a bit of the ortho textures from ZonesPhoto.

Angelique van Campen flew from Honningsvag Valan back to ENHA and after inspecting the airport, via via to ENOV. It was another challenge since photo real textures or ortho textures not always work fine with the provided airports. Not an issue of the airports, but more a struggle of mesh issues. And since most of you own or having installed the mesh packages from AlpilotX or the mesh from Taburet Norway, it turns out that this could lead to some problems at both reviewed airports. Whatever she faces, at the end she offers you some suggestions how to handle this.

For now, enjoy Angelique’s second in-depth review | Norwegian Adventure part II!

Scenery Review | Norwegian Adventures 1

It’s August 2019. I’ve started besides many other X-Plained related projects, my Norwegian adventures. I’m pleased to offer you in a series of review articles, part I of my Norwegian exploration. This adventure deals with the X-Plane scenery products from Hard Landing Studio Honningsvag Valan and the MeshXP Norway package from Taburet.

Your personal reporter Angelique van Campen took a SAS flight to Trondheim, and from their she flew with a rented GA aircraft to Honningsvag Valan. During this flight she explored the modified mesh scenery from Taburet that comes with a 5m resolution and she had enough time to check out the peninsula Honningsvag Valan. For those who aren’t familiar with where you can find Honningsvag Valan; it lies near the famous Nordkapp.

Angelique took the time to check out every corner of Honningsvag Valan and the Norwegian mesh from Taburet and I can tell you, that wasn’t always easy, but she’s happy with the overall in-depth review and invite you to check it out via this review link. What written in the beginning of this news post; her next Norwegian adventure deals with two freeware airports provided via Orbx Simulation Systems. After that, it’s up to Angelique what other Norwegian airports are reviewed. Aerosoft has released a couple although those are ported from FSX. She will see!

For now, enjoy this Norwegian Adventure part I!

Airport Review | Sedona UHD Airport

From his home town, Bruce Knight, our dedicated reviewer, visited the incredible Sedona area and of course the local airport, all modeled by X-Codr. According to Bruce ‘I can’t imagine what approaching this airport to land is like- the effects of up and down drafts (as indicated in the airport documentation), the relatively short runway with its elevation, and the slope of the runway- and what it must be like to try and ignore all this amazing geology while focusing (or trying to) on landing your aircraft.’

Bruce continues “This wrap-up largely repeats comments made throughout the review- the rendition of the airport and surrounding landscape is very well done. That this update is free is a testament to the author, as the increased definition adds so much to the prior versions of this product.”

“The attention to detail is excellent, the visuals look so real compared to my actual experiences from being there. The dynamic hanger doors (there are two hangers featured) make for an excellent addition to realism.”

Airport Review | Aerosoft Heathrow (EGLL)

This time your personal reporter Angelique van Campen stays close to home. Ok, she need to take the aircraft to pass the Channel to reach out London Heathrow International Airport (EGLL), modeled on behalf of Aerosoft. Although this is an updated X-Plane 10 airport, what has Angelique to say about it?

According to Angelique “It is worth the money since it covers an important airport within the European airports. Let me try to keep things simple. I will begin with the obvious: ‘is it worth purchasing such a large European airport?’ That question is quickly answered, YES!”

It has become a massive review. A bit longer than expected, but that’s also due to the design of the airport itself and if she wanted it or not, Angelique had to travel a lot to visit every corner of EGLL. Curious what Angelique has to say? Check out her in-depth review at X-Plained.Com.
