Laminar Research published on their official X-Plane.Com page and their XPlaneOfficial Facebook page a new movie. That said, X-Plane 11 will feature a new Flight School section with tutorials. Using technology developed for X-Plane 10 Mobile, desktop users can learn how to use X-Plane from within X-Plane. In particular interesting for those who’ve never flown with a flight simulator, but perhaps for the Flight School offers something new for you too?
According to Laminar Research “One of our biggest goals here at Laminar Research was making X-Plane 11 easier to use from the get go. One of the ways we’re doing that is by including tutorials for the first time in our desktop simulator. X-Plane 11 features a new Flight School section which incorporates the flight training technology we developed for X-Plane 10 Mobile.
Take your pick of the tutorials, covering topics such as take offs, landings, ILS navigation, even helicopter basics. We hope Flight School’s tutorials make getting started with X-Plane 11 a much smoother journey for everyone.”
Curious? Then you must check out this XPlaneOfficial link or visit the dedicated YouTube link and yes, we’re desperate waiting for the beta to see it with our own eyes but moreover, to offer our own impressions.
I am a Silver C UK Glider Pilot and have also spent many hours on the Microsoft Flight simulator through its various developments.
Delighted to find various excellent Android flight simulators and XPlane 10 Mobile was certainly in the top three in many reviews.
It came out tops for me for downloading and presentation on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.
Where XPlane leads is in the tutorials that are very, very helpful to convert a PC and joystick user to the Android system of control. Not only that it provided a refresher course in correct flying techniques
It was delightful for fly visually referencing wonderful scenery to instrumentation giving a true flight experience.
Whilst happy with ridge and wave soaring I never really mastered thermalling in FS!
Am I correct in thinking there is a sailplane/glider available for XPlane Mobile? Perhaps you could advise how to get it?
Wee problems from training tutorials from that I might sort out with experience.
Never experienced so much torque causing aircraft to veer of runway. Practiced a few times with reduced power but it seems smaller rotations of tablet do not always keep aircraft aimed along runway. Thanks for giving me rewards for landing despite repeat messages for more flaps! The flap control was not easy to set on the Samsung – maybe a screen protector is reducing sensitivity?
Looking forward to the challenge of your training tutorials……..
