I am not able to install Rescuex. I sent an email concerning error message I am getting. Regards, J
See my email Jerome
The last time I tried to download and install RescueX which was required for “KORD Chicago O’Hare International Airport” by DwarfG, I was directed to a link for “RescueXWin.exe” and after clicking on that executable file my Norton AntiVirus said it was infected and automatically deleted a needed file. I tried twice, same thing both times. Do you know if this has been corrected? Conclusion was that I was not able to install the KORD scenery by DwarfG as he said up front that RescueX was needed.
I’m not a Windows user, but I think it’s more a problem of Norton anti-Virus in combination with the RescueX package. Which version of RescueX did you use, did you had installed the latest virus definitions, was Windows up-to-date ect.? Did you do a search on the Internet about Norton AV versus files being indicated as being infected or did you contact RescueX and pointed out this problem?
Hi Angelique, you ask, “Which version of RescueX did you use?” I am not sure, but it was only about a month ago, but to be sure, I followed the link posted here and got the same results, so, it continues to be even this version of RescueX that Norton recognizes as having a Trojan virus. Also, all Windows are up-to-date as well as the latest virus definitions.
For my simulator I run Windows7 but on my work computer Windows10 which is what I am using now. On both I am running Norton and the one that just now gave me the Trojan report is this computer, Windows10.
No, I did not contact RescueX to point out this problem, would be happy to do so but hopefully they are also monitoring this feed and will chime in. Oh, I did however contact Norton and gave them the link and file and their conclusion was that they stand by their finding and will continue to place the file as High Risk. Thanks for what you do, love X-Plained, you are doing a great job and providing a wonderful service.
I’ll send an email tomorrow to Peter who is the developer and ask him to contact you.
Thank you, it will be ok to share with him my e-mail address. I will let you know here how it goes if he gets in touch with me.
I recently did a library count and I found that there are now over 40 separate libraries needed for full X-Plane 3rd party add-ons that need to be installed as each add-on that uses libraries uses a different set. That leaves me with a very strong impression that the proliferation of libraries is getting out of hand and needs better control than just a list.
